Ad Hoc Inter-Agency Meeting on Security

Document Actions

Until October 2001, the Ad Hoc Inter-Agency Meeting on Security, which had been established in 1980, was addressing all issues relating to the safety and security of UN system personnel. Though established as an ad hoc body, it had been asked to continue its work given the urgency and the importance of addressing the security concerns of UN system personnel.

It considered, among other issues, the establishment of a trust fund to supplement existing security funding mechanisms; security for local staff; security training and strengthening the role and increased support for the Office of the United Nations Security Coordinator (UNSECOORD).

Given the importance of these issues, this meeting, since January 2002, is reporting to the High-Level Committee on Management . [For more information on staff security, please click here.]
