Information Systems Coordination Committee
Document Actions
Until 2001, inter-agency coordination in the field of information and communication technology was carried by the Information Systems Coordination Committee which was composed of senior-level chief information officers, information system managers and information technology managers. ISCC focused on four areas of concern:
- Making information more available, by piloting inter-organizational information systems, web sites, and tools to improve the indexing and retrieval of information;
- Improving the information infrastructure, by piloting schemes for better use of Internet technologies and examining issues related to the security of information;
- Assisting senior management, by recommending outlines for best practices in IT and information management, including strategies and technology standards and best practices;
- Sharing experiences, by providing a forum among the members and among the various other IT-related groups in the United Nations system.
Since October 2001, inter-agency coordination in this field is being carried out by the High-Level Committee on Management and through the ICT Network.
